Stefan
Miska is currently Endowed Chair Professor of Petroleum Engineering and Director
of Tulsa University Drilling Research Projects at The University of Tulsa. He
joined The University of Tulsa in 1992 and was Chairman of Petroleum Engineering
until 2001. He obtained his DSc degree in 1980, Ph.D. degree (1973) and his
M.S. degree (1968) from the University of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow, Poland,
where he began his career in academia as an Assistant Professor. He has also
worked at The University of Trondheim-Norwegian Institute of Technology, and
at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where he became Professor
and Chairman of the Petroleum Engineering Department.
Dr. Miska is a member
of the SPE and IADC. He is currently a technical paper reviewer for Drilling
Engineering, and is a member of the API Resource Group on Drill Stem Design.
He received the SPE Distinguished Achievement Award for Petroleum Engineering
Faculty (2000) and the SPE Drilling Engineering Award (2004). He has published
over 130 technical papers mostly in the area of drilling engineering. His current
research interests are in cuttings transport, mechanics of tubulars, wellbore
hydraulics / MPD and directional drilling.
